SECRET MILITARY BASES

It's something to wonder about -- and for good reason: secret government bases. Secret labs. Secret military installations -- some underground, others in remote frigid arctic territories, still others in mountains.
This I mulled after a recent visit out west.
Passing Colorado Springs, one sees a highway exit restricted to cars with special clearance. A highway ramp! It's at Cheyenne Mountain, where -- no secret here -- the Air Force along with Canadian military have a joint facility monitoring every flying thing in the world and even a bit beyond, including satellites and space junk.
While its existence is no secret, many operations inside are. Workers are often limited to certain parts of the massive facility, which was embedded inside the mountain to withstand a nuclear strike. Long tunnels, blazing electronic displays, thick vault doors. It was built by NORAD (the North American Aerospace Defense Command) and now is supposedly just a backup command center in the event of an apocalyptic war.
During a speaking engagement many years ago, I stayed at the home of a retired general there. How I wish I would have asked him the questions I have now! (Of course, I don't think he would have answered many!)
Cheyenne Mountain is hardly alone.
Around the world are similarly hidden military and scientific facilities.
They're operated by the U.S., China, Russia, and other nations.
Most are "cloak-and-dagger." Some are outright spooky. Only a couple are widely known outside the local vicinities.
Are there also facilities under the surface of the ocean? The truth, if we knew it, might set us free.
It's what this "Special Report" will take a look at: the most secretive government operations in the world -- or at least, the most secret ones we know of.
