SECRET TUNNELS

It's there in the news again, strange sounds from underground.
Lost in the whipsaw of explosive news and swift-moving global events was an item I noted recently from West Haven, Connecticut, where a phantom humming sound that reverberated persistently in several neighborhoods for years has returned.
I've written about mysterious subterranean sounds in the past in the regular pages of Spirit Daily. I don't intend on repeating that. Many can be explained as the echoes and vibrations of industrial machinery, traffic, even meteorological pressure on the earth. Intense low-pressure storms (sometimes called weather bombs, as occurred recently in the Northeast) can cause the entire planet to vibrate or generate seismic rattles. In Moodus, Connecticut, where I have given several retreats, mysterious noise has been recorded since Indian times, described by indigenous peoples and early settlers alike as "the sound of a great mountain falling."
But it hardly stops there. Sounds have been reported across North America in towns or cities in Ohio, New Mexico, California, Colorado, Illinois, New Jersey, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Maine, Wisconsin, and Maryland.
This has caused speculation that they are sometimes due to highly secret underground projects. Is there any truth to rumors that America's military is preparing tunnels, secret labs, subterranean "highways," or a rail system connecting hidden cities in the event of "apocalypse"? Or is it something—as others claim—more mysterious than even that? (Wait till you hear some of the wildest claims!)
